In our most recent email survey a customer suggestion was made for specific food pairings with various teas. We thought that was a fantastic idea! Once we announce our Spring/Summer choices (and there ARE some clear winners from your survey feedback), we will announce food pairings for those options as well.
Pairing food with tea can enhance both flavors, just like pairing wine with food. Here are some great food pairings for different types of tea, so it all depends on it’s base:
Peppermint Tea – Dark chocolate, fresh fruit, lemon bars
Chamomile Tea – Light pastries, honey-glazed nuts, apple pie
Rooibos Tea – Spiced cake, almond biscotti, barbecue dishes
Hibiscus Tea – Citrus fruits, berry desserts, goat cheese
Ginger Tea – Asian cuisine, spiced cookies, lemon-based desserts
Lavender Tea – Shortbread, scones, vanilla desserts
Earl Grey – Dark chocolate, citrus desserts, shortbread, smoked salmon
Assam – Breakfast foods (eggs, bacon, toast), spiced Indian dishes, dark chocolate
Darjeeling – Light pastries, mild cheese, fruit tarts, cucumber sandwiches
Chai – Spiced cookies, cinnamon rolls, samosas, pumpkin pie
Sencha – Sushi, grilled fish, seaweed snacks, light salads
Matcha – White chocolate, mochi, almond cookies, avocado toast
Jasmine Green Tea – Stir-fried vegetables, honey-based desserts, chicken or shrimp dishes
Gunpowder Green Tea – Moroccan cuisine, grilled lamb, nutty desserts
Light Oolong (Tie Guan Yin) – Seafood, fruit-based desserts, coconut treats
Dark Oolong (Da Hong Pao) – Roasted meats, caramel-based sweets, dark chocolate
Silver Needle – Fresh fruits, white chocolate, mild cheeses, honey-drizzled nuts
White Peony – Soft cheeses, shortbread, light seafood dishes
