FAQs

What is the difference between tea and herbal tea?

Tea comes from the Camellia sinensis plant (like black, green, white, and oolong teas). Herbal tea, also called a tisane, is made from herbs, flowers, fruits, and spices—like chamomile, peppermint, or hibiscus. Unlike true teas, most herbal teas are naturally caffeine-free, making them a soothing option any time of day.

What’s the best way to brew herbal tea?

For most herbal teas, steep 1–2 teaspoons per 8 oz of hot water for 5–10 minutes, depending on the herb. Longer steeping can bring out stronger flavors and benefits, but can make some pure teas more bitter. Always check brewing recommendations for your specific blend.

Do you have a temperature and steep time guide?

Yes!  Check out our handy dandy chart below. These guidelines are from a highly reputable tea-service company that serves 3 Star Michelin restaurants.  We trust them.  It is best to steep for the time recommended for best extraction of benefits as well as accurate flavor profile. Every order gets a free steep time guide.

Are herbal teas naturally caffeine-free?

Yes, most herbal teas are naturally caffeine-free because they don’t come from the tea plant. Popular caffeine-free choices include chamomile, rooibos, hibiscus, and peppermint. If you’re looking for a calming evening cup, herbal teas are a perfect fit.

How long does tea last?

Most teas and herbal teas stay fresh for 1–2 years if stored properly. Over time, they won’t go “bad,” but they may lose flavor and aroma. For the best experience, enjoy them within the first year.  We source our teas & herbs fresh  from small farmers, mix and package them immediately to guarantee quality and freshness.

Do your teas contain sugar?

There are no added sugars in our teas, but some of our blends have dried fruits or chocolate bits and may contain trace amounts of natural sugars.

I have food allergies. Are your teas safe for me?

Please refer to the ingredient list on each tea to determine which teas contain your allergens. And if you notice a peculiar reaction, stop taking it. When mixing and blending, we are meticulous about not allowing cross contamination of blends, aka adulteration.

Can I re-use my tea leaves?

Yes, you can use your leaves a couple of times with adding a bit more steeping time, but we recommend doing so in the same day and discarding afterwards to prevent bacteria from forming.

How long is shipping time?

This will vary depending on carrier and time of year, but your products will ship out the same day if placed before 1:00pm and the next business day if placed after 1:00pm.  We are freshly fully stocked, but If we run out of a particular ingredient, we will source, produce and ship as soon as possible.

Can you drink herbal tea every day?

Some teas are safe during pregnancy (like ginger, peppermint, or rooibos), while others should be avoided (like licorice root or high-caffeine teas). Avoid Hibiscus. While hibiscus is generally considered safe for most healthy adults, it’s best to choose other pregnancy-friendly herbal teas such as ginger, peppermint, or rooibos if you are expecting. Always check with your healthcare provider before adding new teas to your routine.

Is loose leaf tea better than tea bags?

Loose leaf tea often provides fresher flavor and higher quality compared to traditional tea bags. Because the leaves are larger, they release more natural oils and nutrients, making for a more aromatic and flavorful cup.

Many mass-produced tea bags (especially those made of nylon, plastic mesh, or sealed with polypropylene) can release microplastics into your tea when steeped in hot water. A study published in Environmental Science & Technology found that a single plastic tea bag steeped at brewing temperature could release billions of microplastic and nanoplastic particles.

How should I store tea and herbal tea?

Store your tea in a cool, dark, and dry place—away from moisture, heat, and light. Airtight containers, like tins or jars, help preserve freshness, flavor, and aroma.

Can you drink herbal tea cold?

Yes! Many teas are delicious iced, including green tea, hibiscus, and fruit-based blends. Cold brewing tea overnight in the fridge is a simple way to make a refreshing summer drink with a smoother taste and less bitterness.
